Christmas eve was spent with Eric and his family, the boys and Mom. After I got off work on Christmas day we left for the beach for a few days. WHAT a blast we had!! The weather was awesome!
We visited Atalaya (an old fortress at Huntington Beach) toured that, toks LOTS of pictures and had a blast!
Kyler spent his birthday celebration with family and friends at my property clubhouse. We had a pizza/pool party and everyone had a great time! Kyler, who is an avid fan of the telephone...had a "phone cake" made by his Grandma!
Well, we started moving in late April...had temporary housing in May and June...and finally came upon where we would place some roots!! A lot happening and a lot to do!!
Saturday evening was the Irmo High School Prom 2009 held at the Columbia Convention Center. The guys and girls all hung out at the lake at Molly's house for photo ops...and then Nick, his date, Meredith and the group headed to Bonefish Grill for dinner and then onto the festivites....(which Nick said was LAME..LOL)
Well today I had to document the "BIG event" Nick came in from school and said.."Let's go get my head shaved"....and why would I deny my son that???? It all started in the eighth grade when he wouldn't get haircuts anymore.....and I was tired of fighting about them. SO...I let him do whatever he wanted to do with his hair. He wasn't doing drugs..no alcohol..wasn't hurting anyone..and he was in school..so what could it hurt. "Choose your battles..they say"...so I chose not to fight about hair...and he's a great kid! and NOW a great kid with NO HAIR!!!! He tells me that next year he will join the guard...join their "college first" program...go to school...(he cannot be deployed for 3 years as long as he is in school) do his weekend and two weeks a year with the guard during this time. ALL of this after basic training (which will be oh so good for him) finish out his time (whatever he signs up for) and then apply to flight school...and go regular army...so..that's the plan. WHEW.... but..he has eyes now!!!!
OMG!! Nick is 17!! Driving..and old..which makes me old. College?? have no clue what the 'real' plans are...a few weeks ago it was the Air Force..this week it is the National Guard...and letting them pick up the tab. Who knows...I just know he's growing up WAY too fast!
